Is the Come Cricket APK Safe? Checks Before You Install

TL;DR

No independent site can certify a sideloaded file as safe, and we do not try to. Whether the Come Cricket APK is safe on your phone depends on where the file came from, what Play Protect says about it and which permissions it asks for. Run the checklist below before you tap Install.

Come Cricket is the cricket section of the Come APK app, which is installed on Android from an APK file rather than from Google Play. That means nobody has reviewed the file on your behalf. Its safety depends on the source, the scan result and the permissions requested, and you can check all three yourself.

Is the Come Cricket APK safe to install?

The Come Cricket APK is only as safe as the exact file you download, and no outside guide can certify that for you. A file from a trusted source that passes a Play Protect scan and requests sensible permissions carries far less risk than a copy forwarded in a chat group.

We are an independent guide, not the developer. We have not audited the app's code, and we do not publish a verdict such as "100% safe", because nobody outside the developer could honestly back that up.

The app is intended for adults aged 18 and above. If you are younger than that, the safest choice is not to install it at all.

What are the real risks of sideloading an APK?

Sideloading means installing an Android app from a file instead of an app store. The main risks of sideloading an APK are modified copies that carry malware, apps that request far more access than they need, and the absence of automatic updates and store review.

  • Repackaged copies. A popular app can be taken apart, altered and shared again under the same name and icon. The copy looks identical on your home screen.
  • Excessive permissions. Some altered apps ask to read SMS messages so that they can capture OTPs, or request accessibility access so that they can control the screen.
  • No store review. Google Play applies policy checks and automated scanning before an app is listed. A file from a website skips that step.
  • No automatic updates. A sideloaded app does not update through the Play Store, so security fixes arrive only when you install them.

CERT-In, India's national cyber security agency, publishes advisories on mobile threats at cert-in.org.in, and they are worth reading from time to time.

How do I check the source of a Come Cricket APK file?

To check the source of a Come Cricket APK file, look at where the link came from, whether the page uses HTTPS, what the file is actually called and whether the same source served your previous install. A file with no traceable origin should not be installed.

  1. Trace the link. Did you find the page yourself, or did a stranger send it? Links pushed through unsolicited messages deserve the least trust.
  2. Read the address bar. Check the spelling of the domain letter by letter and confirm the padlock for HTTPS. HTTPS does not prove a site is honest, but its absence is a clear reason to leave.
  3. Check the file name and type. The download should be a single file ending in .apk. Be wary of archives, installers for Windows or files with double extensions.
  4. Stick to one source. Updating from the place you first installed from reduces the chance of a signature mismatch or a swapped file.
  5. Avoid "mod" or "unlocked" versions. A copy advertised as modified has, by definition, been altered by someone other than the developer.

How does Google Play Protect help with sideloaded apps?

Google Play Protect is Android's built-in scanner, and it checks apps installed from outside Google Play as well as apps from the store. Play Protect can warn you about a harmful file during installation and can disable or remove an app it later identifies as dangerous.

To confirm it is switched on:

  1. Open the Google Play Store app.
  2. Tap your profile picture at the top right.
  3. Tap Play Protect, then the settings icon.
  4. Make sure Scan apps with Play Protect is turned on.

If Play Protect shows a warning during installation, read it. A message saying an app is harmful or was blocked should end the installation. Do not turn Play Protect off because a web page or a chat message tells you to. An honest source has no reason to ask for that.

Play Protect is helpful but not perfect. A clean scan lowers the risk; it does not remove it. Google's own explanation is on the Google Play Help site.

Which permissions should I question before tapping Allow?

Question any permission that a cricket app has no clear reason to need. For Come Cricket, the permissions that deserve the hardest look are SMS access, accessibility services, device admin rights, drawing over other apps and reading notifications, because these are the ones most often abused.

We cannot publish the exact permission list for the current build. You can see it on your own phone under Settings > Apps > Come > Permissions after installing, and Android will prompt you for sensitive ones when they are first used.

PermissionWhy an app might askHow to respond

What checklist should I run before installing the Come Cricket APK?

Run this short checklist before installing the Come Cricket APK. Every row should be a clear yes. If even one answer is no or "not sure", pause the installation, find out why, and continue only when you are comfortable with the explanation.

CheckWhat a good answer looks like
Am I 18 or older?Yes
Have I checked the rules for my state?Yes, and the app is not restricted where I live
Do I know where this file came from?Yes, a source I chose myself
Is the file a single .apk?Yes, no archive or extra installer
Is Play Protect on?Yes, and it raised no warning
Did I allow installs only for one app?Yes, only my browser or file manager, and I will switch it off afterwards
Are the permission requests reasonable?Yes, nothing involving SMS, accessibility or device admin
Does the app ask for money or bank details at sign-up?No

On the question of rules, India's 2025 online gaming law restricts online money games, and several states have their own restrictions. Our state-by-state overview gives a general summary, which is not legal advice.

After installation, switch the "Install unknown apps" setting back off for the browser or file manager you used. Leaving it on is a common way for a second, unwanted app to arrive later.

What should I do if something looks wrong after installing?

If the app behaves strangely after installation, act quickly. Signs of a problem include new apps you did not install, pop-ups appearing over other apps, unexpected SMS activity, rapid battery drain or requests for permissions that have nothing to do with cricket.

  1. Turn on aeroplane mode to cut the connection.
  2. Uninstall the app from Settings > Apps.
  3. If the uninstall button is greyed out, remove the app's device admin right first under Settings > Security, then uninstall.
  4. Run a full Play Protect scan.
  5. Change the passwords for your email and banking apps from a different device.
  6. Contact your bank at once if you see any transaction you did not make.

If the problem is only that the app will not install or open, that is usually a technical issue rather than a security one. Our login and install error fixes cover those cases.

Finally, keep the app in proportion. It is something to enjoy alongside the cricket, and our responsible gaming page has practical advice on limits.

Frequently asked questions

Can you confirm the Come Cricket APK is virus-free?

No. We are an independent guide and have not audited the app. Nobody outside the developer can honestly guarantee that. What you can do is check the source, let Play Protect scan the file and refuse permissions that make no sense for a cricket app.

Is it illegal to install an APK from outside Google Play?

Sideloading itself is a normal Android feature. Whether using a particular app is lawful depends on what the app offers and on the law where you live, including India's 2025 online gaming law and state rules. Check official sources or ask a lawyer.

Should I turn off Play Protect to install the app?

No. If a page tells you to disable Play Protect, treat that as a strong warning sign. Keep scanning switched on, read any message it shows and stop the installation if the file is flagged as harmful.

Does the app need access to my SMS messages?

An app can ask for SMS access to fill in an OTP automatically, but it is not essential. You can deny it and type the code yourself. Because SMS access can expose banking OTPs, denying it is the safer default.

Need the app or a hand?

The app is for adults (18+) on Android. If something on this page is unclear, ask on Telegram.
